The restaurant Daiquiri Dick’s recently revealed their private label wine. The selection includes Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. “We thought it was a good idea to brand our restaurant in several ways and having our own private label is just one of them,” says Hnoi Latthitham, Restaurant Manager. “We also do a lot of catering so it works well for us to have our own private label wine to use at events. We also want to sell it at the Deli.” A working vacation in California wine country during summer 2008, provided a perfect tasting venue for this new venture. Hnoi laughs about her trip and says, “Let’s say we started our day at 9 in the morning, walked right into the wine tasting area and by noon we had already sampled 12 wines, so you can imagine how the rest of the day went.” Partnering with Rutherford Wine Company in the Napa Valley, they soon found out there was more to this process than taste alone. “First of all you find a wine that you like, then you sign a contract, then you design the labels; and that was the hardest part of the whole process,” says Hnoi. “We actually had a very beautiful label designed, then later the officials said it had to meet all these rules and regulations because it is an imported wine and there are more rules. It went back and forth for four months before we finally got the label done. The wine came out in the summer and everybody loved it, it was well received.” “Our knowledgeable staff will help you pair our house wines with the many dishes available on the menu, particularly our chardonnay which is medium body, not a heavy oak flavor and it goes well with many chicken dishes, including our famous Chinese chicken salad,” says Hnoi. Daiquiri Dick’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner so you can enjoy the new private label wine by the bottle or glass, any time.
