Puerto Vallarta’s newest gourmet hot spot, The Deli, rolls in customers everyday with the aroma of fresh baked goods. This carry out establishment opened its doors in January 2007 and since then there have been changes in the menu and confirmed favorites among its loyal customers. All the stellar selections are wrapped and ready to go, plus The Deli will satisfy most cravings. “They have really good food,” says Gary Routliffe, a power snacker, he thinks it is much easier to stop by and pick something up to go, “If you don’t want to have a full meal, it’s nice to have something to snack on, here and there, salads and that sort of thing.” Popular salads include, the broccoli, raisin and pecan and the chicken curry with apples and grapes. The Deli is the only place you will find Tequila-cured gravlax, chicken terrine and Mexican meatloaf. “It’s unique and it’s very good,” says Roland Greve, a regular customer four or five days a week, “The croissants are good and the bagels are good.” Workers are rising to the occasion and baking fresh breads everyday. Management brought in a professional to knead the recipes for a worldly palate. Over 15 upper crusty creations have been introduced. A passion for the work is reflected in the dough. “You become one with the bread,” says Amanda Ayoub, Bread Maven from Portland, Oregon, “You get a variety of senses involved, you get to smell these things, you get to touch these things, you certainly get to taste them and see them and it’s all beautiful and everything’s a piece of art , so it’s creative and physical.” Baskets of bagels, cinnamon rolls and scones line the counter along with baguettes, foccacia, bread sticks, and whole wheat loaves. All the sandwiches are made to order, like the smoked turkey or pastrami, and they are big enough to share so there is room for some salad and, of course, a cookie. The Deli is located on Venustiano Carranza 311-B between Insurgentes and Constiticion and is open Monday through Saturday from 8AM – 6PM. They can also cater your next event, for inquiries please call 322 223 9523 or visit www.ddpv.com. |
